Text from Unknown: Message Not Found
I keep getting texts from an "unknown" that read "message not found."

All,
This issue can be caused by a few things. One of the most common is low or intermittent coverage. If you are in an area with 0-1 bar of service, there can be a delay in getting your messages. It may also be a sync issue with iMessage and/or Facetime. To resolve, you'll want to disable and re-enable both features.
Turn off you iPhone and then turn it back on. Once the device has restarted, turn iMessage and Facetime back on.
If this doesn't work to resolve, you may want to reset your network settings. This doesn't delete any pictures or software, it only puts your network settings back to default. You will need to reconnect your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.

Thank you for joining the Community Forums. I would be completely baffled if I received a message from Unknown with Message not found in the body. I would be happy to look into this for you.
After researching into this issue, I’m finding this usually happens with iMessage when there is an error in delivering a text. Please try a soft reset on your device. This does not remove any personal information and helps refresh the connections.
iPhone 6S+ and under
Hold and press the Power and Home button until the Apple logo appears.
iPhone 7 and 7+
Hold and press the Power and Volume down button until the Apple logo appears.
If the issue persists, try turning off iMessages to see if the problem replicates. If it does, please use our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool. Make sure your device is selected, and then for the issue choose Messaging.
Finally please try resetting network settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will erase any saved Wi-Fi passwords.

Hi! This happened to me as well - even after restoring network settings, the message is still saying sender is unknown and that the message can’t be found, any additional help here?

all the fixes suggested are for future messages, failed messages will not appear after the resets

Sorry if I posted twice on one thread, I didn't mean to. I was on a mobile browser and (not surprisingly) got several JavaScript error messages trying to use this site on a smartphone.
If your concern is that I replied similarly to several different threads that were the exact same topic- I don't really apologize for that. AT&T should manage and monitor these forums and consolidate the replies.
What should bother us all is that AT&T is MIA, and when they do reply it's often wrong and actually often more time consuming and helpless than not replying at all. Users who factory reset their phones being told told to factory reset their phones. No, sorry, that's not helpful. Or one bit of advice was an employee who told a customer who said they were getting "Text from Unknown: Message Not Found" that the customer should block the sender (huh?) or, if they wanted, they could go to a store and get a new phone number (huh?). That's not helpful advice.
So- sorry, I appreciate you out here in the forums trying to help folks, but ... but I'm "Sorry, not sorry," about the support in general out here.

@Zubs123 were all just customers here this is not at&t they just host the forum for the general public, Although there is a small team of customer care specialists that monitor the forums the sheer volume of posts are simply too many posts for these agents to respond to each one of them.Somewhere in the 10k posts per day, some of us may have an employee tag but we are here to represent the forum with our experiences as customers and do not represent AT&T with our responses and have no more authority to assist anyone any more than you do.

Having this problem on iPhone X. None of the fixes above are working. Any other suggestions? The phone is not receiving messages.
