Switching Carriers on IPhone 6

We are thinking about getting a phone for my daughter for Christmas. My brother recently upgraded his phone and was going to give us his old iPhone 6. He was a Verizon customer and we have At&T. Are we able to use this phone and add it to our At&T plan? I have no clue how the process works. Any help would be appreciated!

You are able to use a Verizon iPhone 6 on your AT&T plan. The reverse is not true.

To ensure compatibility of any device, check out the Bring Your Own Phone page.

@Jongullion - @cousintim is absolutely correct. Double check the compatibility using the IMEI of the phone you are looking to bring over but there shouldn't be any issue. Verizon phones have been sold unlocked for about 3-4 years now. I not to long ago switched from Verizon to AT&T and brought my phone over with no issues.
