Pre-paid plan for a week - Visiting the US

Hi,

I'm a tourist and will be visiting USA early January for a week.

I have the iPhone XS Max with eSim support.

Is there a plan I can purchase for data using the eSim for that week?  from what I've seen in AT&T and Verison websites, all the programs are on a monthly basis. I need a single purchase program for that week.

Would appreciate any help regarding this.

Hello @dzbellied,

We'd be more than happy to provide you with some more information about the process of purchasing a PREPAID plan. We're glad to hear that you're interested in the PREPAID $65/mo. without AutoPay plan. There's no need to log in or create new credentials. To purchase this plan online, please follow these steps:

1. Click Shop now located under the desired PREPAID plan.

2. If you're still interested in using the cell phone that you already have with AT&T PREPAID service, click Bring Your Own Device.

3. Click Continue.

4. Click Continue again, and enter the IMEI for your cell phone.

5. Choose a PREPAID plan, and click Add Plan.

6. Click continue.

7. You will then be redirected to your cart, where you can click Check out to make your purchase online after filling out the required information.

Let us know if this helps.

Hello @dzbellied,

We can definitely assist you with choosing a PREPAID plan that works best for you. You can check out all of the PREPAID plans that we currently have to offer on our website. We do not offer PREPAID SIM kits for eSIMs, but you can follow these steps to Install your eSIM and add a plan:

1. From your iPhone XS Max, go to Settingsthen Cellular.

2. Select Add a plan, and the Camera app will open.

3. Point your camera at the QR activation code on your eSIM card until you see a message that says Installing cellular plan.

4. You're all set!

Let us know if this helps.

The plans are for unlimited talk and text, and an amount of data.  It’s good for 30 days.  There is no one week option from prepaid.  There is a $2 per day plan that allows adding a tiny amount of data for another $1.  Minimum refill is $10, so I suppose you could soens as little as $21 plus taxes.

As mentioned, prepaid has no esim support, you need to pick up a removable sim from ATT.

Thanks for the answers!

I didn't understand the below sentence:

"We do not offer PREPAID SIM kits for eSIMs, but you can follow these steps to Install your eSIM and add a plan"

Because I will not renew the plan, I do not need the AutoPay option, therefore the right option for is "$65/mo. without AutoPay" as I need large amount of data. When I select this option, I need to login (and I can see that the login details are not the same as for the forums). When I try to create new credentials, it ask me for AT&A phone number which I don't have as currently I'm not AT&A customer or account number, how to proceed?

Thanks for the detailed answer!

When I use the described method, there is a need to send the physical SIM to US address, but I do not live in the US. Is it possible to purchase the plan and have the eSIM emailed to me? that way I will be able to activate the eSIM prior to me arriving at US.

Why do I have to purchase the SIM if I will not use it? I need the only eSIM, as the physical SIM in my iPhone will remain the one that I bring with me from Israel.

Once again, AT&T does not offer eSIM support for prepaid plans. To get an AT&T prepaid plan, you MUST use a physical SIM card. If you want to use your eSIM on AT&T, you have to apply for post-paid service. And even then the way to activate a new AT&T plan on an iPhone's eSIM is to scan a QR code which is on a physical card given to you by AT&T.

However, since you can't apply for AT&T service outside the US, you can't buy it in advance before you get to the US. You have to wait until you're in the US.

Also, it's not possible to email a plan for an eSIM right now. That's not how eSIMs work.

Hello @dzbellied

Thanks for responding back to us!

The eSIM can only be activated when having a postpaid account with AT&T, but is not available for prepaid accounts. The eSIM also cannot be removed from the physical phone, but can be used for different carriers that support eSIM.

We recommend reaching out to your wireless carrier for international plans and eSIM support for your visit to the U.S.

If you are interested in a particular wireless data plan, you can visit our Shop & Support Article for assistance.

We hope this information helps, and you have a great day!

I noticed that McCarran International Airport has AT&T vending machine. If I will purchase the SIM with the pre-paid plan in the vending machine, will just scanning the QR code will enable the plan in my iPhone without using the physical SIM?

ATTCares

My ideal plan is to use my own personal SIM from my country and add eSIM from AT&T. I still don't understand if I can do it using the solution I mentioned from the vending machine.

Hi, @dzbellied,

If you purchased a SIM from the vending machine, it wouldn't have a QR code to use. At the moment, AT&T isn't doing eSIMs with prepaid. As you'll only be in the US for a week, your best option would be to talk to your own carrier about their international plans.

Have a great weekend!

Do you know if other carriers in the US offer this? maybe Verison ?
