Numbersync, Apple Watch Series 3, and Iphon X

So I just bought and apple watch series 3 and I setup numbersync. I was trying to make sure I did it correctly and spoke with a customer representative who told me I can't use my watch with Cellular if my iphone is connected to Wifi. Is this true? So basically if I forgot to turn off the Wifi on my phone and I am out of range of it my watch's cellular doesn't work? If that's the case then what is the point of the cellular on the watch?

Greetings @middle_edwards!

We appreciate you reaching out to us on the Community Forums! I am more than happy to answer your questions regarding your iPhone and Apple Watch Series 3.

You are able to use your watch if the phone is left with Wi-Fi turned on. Only the Series 3 has Wi-Fi + Cellular connectivity. Your iPhone does not need to be turned on at all once everything is set up.

Hope this helps! Have an amazing weekend!

Thank you so much. I didn’t think that could be true and I’m not sure why the tech I spoke to said it. I kinda argued about it with him and I made sure to mention it was an Apple Watch series 3 with cellular but he kept insisting the WiFi has to be turned off.

We have TWO watches, paired them, unpaired them, can NOT get them to connect to cellular. Spent three hours on the phone with ATT. They think it's a tower issue?  Neither watch can be used independently of the phones? HELP

are you in a hdvoice area?  You can only have one watch per att login.  you have to make a separate login for the 2nd watch.  The watch will always need your phone number...  Apple did not design the apple watch to use the number assigned to the watch.

We have two watches both on same account, should we separate?

you can have both watches on the same account but the 2nd watch user needs their own myATT login to assign numbersync to their iPhone.

Can her watch be used with the separate number AT&T assigned her or does it have to use my phone number to make calls. I want her to call me if she needs me.

If I gave a child my iwatch with cellular and it’s assigned a number can I call that number if I need to reach her?
