Number won't update

After changing my number... It won't update "my number".. I have typed in manually only to have it go back to my other number.. I have iPhone 6 Plus .. I can make and receive calls.. I can also receive texts but I can't send any unless I change "my number" to my new number.. iMessage says waiting for activation and my number resets to the old number
