Not receiving group text messages if they include an Android in the group

I have an iPhone 5S on iOS 10.3, and just recently (in the last few weeks) I realized that I'm not receiving group messages if any member of the group has an Android phone. The Android user does not need to be the one initiating the text message, just part of the group.  Other iPhones are receiving the group message.

Greetings @purpleribbon12!

The benefits of using group messaging can be so helpful. I would also be concerned if certain contacts were not able to get their response or message through to me! I’ll be delighted to help you correct this.

Before we get into the troubleshooting, I would ensure that there aren't more than 10 people in your group.  We currently have a 10 person limit for group messaging, so if the android user was the 11th, that could be the issue also.

First, let’s ensure your settings are indeed set for all devices to send you group messages. @deenalove08 had a great suggestion in checking settings first. Please access your Settings > Messages > and please ensure your Send as SMS and Group Messaging are both enabled.

I would also advise to check with the Android users to ensure their Advanced Messaging is turned off. The Advanced Messaging can sometimes prevent SMS and MMS conversations from sending and receiving depending on compatible models. For more details, they can visit this site here.

I would also suggest resetting your network settings. This will assist in a network refresh from your phone. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before and will not erase personal data.

Let us know how it works out. Have a great rest of your day!

Is att still limiting group texts to 10? 10. Wow. We use group text for school parents connecting, sports, work and all these are more than 10 people needing to connect.

Because I hate when someone figure out their problem and doesn't post the answer for future people searching for answers:

MY SOLUTION: In my case, it turns out that MMS messaging setting had been turned off. This did not come at a new upgrade or any other change to the software or hardware of the phone. It's a mystery to me why it suddenly changed.  But in any case, I went into the settings of messaging and turned on MMS messaging, which then revealed a secondary menu for group messaging, which I also turned on.  At first this allowed me to receive the messages, but not in groups (they were sent in a group, but I received them one-on-one separately form each sender.  However, after a reboot of the phone, it seems to be working correctly now.  Hope this helps someone else!

I would say to contact Apple as they are the only ones that do anything with the software of the phone.  Most likely it has to do something with the software or a setting on the phone itself.

thank you so much for this tip!!  all of a sudden I too stopped receiving group texts.  Even though my MMS was still on I did the following:

Settings / Messages / MMS Messaging - toggled off & then toggled on / turn off my phone / turned it back on

and it worked!

From what I have read, all the solutions seem to work for everyone except I have not seen an answer specific to the Xr, I have tried everything suggested and still cannot receive anything from the group that includes an android, all other groups that are iphone only work fine (regardless of model)

Curious too.  Mine just started doing this yesterday.  Worked the first half of the day and just stopped in the middle of the day.  I have reset network settings AND reset all settings, and it did not solve it.  Took it to AT&T and they put a new sim card in it, still not working.  They told me to call Apple Support, but I'm pretty sure I've done everything short of erase all content and settings.  I can receive all the messages I missed every time I reboot my phone, but won't get any going forward.
