Is AT&T responsible for voicemail issues on iphone?

I can barely hear the recording telling me to enter my voicemail password.

How can I increase the volume?

Hey @Nancyopn!

You came to the right place to get that voicemail issue resolved for you! Are you also having trouble with hearing phone calls and other audio through the phone, or it is just the voicemail messages?

Depending on the type of phone, while on a call, you have the option to increase the volume using the volume up/down buttons on the side. You can view all of your phone’s troubleshooting tutorials and the user manual through the AT&T Device Support website. Once there, to get the best results, make sure to change the make and model of the phone before getting started. You can then tap on the Tutorials tab > Settings > Sounds & Alerts.

For voicemail issues, visit AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve for more support. Select Voicemail under Service/network issues after changing the phone model.

Have a magnificent weekend! We’re always here to help!

Hi Demetria,

Thank you for your response. My phone is an Apple iPhone 5c

 1) The issue is it is extremely difficult to hear the recording prompting me to input my pin number to access voice mail.

Is there any way to make that recording louder ( at least to a normal level)?

2) Is there any way to have the phone convert voicemail messages to text?
Sometimes the person leaving the voicemail is from a foreign country whose language is difficult to understand.

If not, this might be a feature for AT&T and all carriers to consider creating.

I do not have sound/voice issues with any other features on my iPhone.

Many thanks for your input.

I have the perfect solution for you to test out!

Through the new iOS update on iPhone, it came equipped with exactly what you’re looking for – Voicemail Transcription! With it, you can see a written copy of your voicemail messages. It will require having visual voicemail set up on the phone, which is no problem, you can view the walk through of getting that set up if you don’t already have it. This should also take care of the audio when entering your information to access your messages.

Just in case, you can also get help with the speaker on your phone directly from Apple Support if needed.

Take care!

It's only for the iPhone 6s or newer (with iOS 10).
