IOS7 update locked phone

Does anyone know how to get pass the black screen with the Apple Logo? So far this update is going into hour 4 and nothing is happening. Contacted Apple but they want $19 for the call. NOT. Right now no phone

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately after going through the process the phone still has black screen with logo. At this point phone is dead. Believe everything is lost

Are you doing the update over the air, or connected to a computer with iTunes? If you are doing it over the air, try connecting to iTunes. It may detect the phone in recovery mode and be able to restore it.

Hopefully you backed up your phone before running the update? Try this.

Hold the home and power buttons until the phone restarts. You should be prompted to connect it to iTunes, which will see the phone as being in recovery mode and will restore it to factory settings. If you have a backup, you can then restore that.
