I have tried to backup my 3G phone with I tunes. It keeps telling me my computer is not authorized but when I try and authorize it. The message says that it is already authorized. Any suggestions?

Ensure that the iTunes username/password is the same.
Also here is Authorize Computer but there is also Transfer Purchases. Follow the steps below:
Also even if apps were not backed up you shouldn't lose any if they were purchased via the App Store. In iOS you can click on
App Store > Updates.. At the top is a bar called Purchased. If you click that it will show all your apps that were aquired via the App Store and you can re-download whatever you want.
