Downloading an App
When I try to download an app a window pops open with a picture of a fingerprint and my email address - - when I place my fingerprint on it - - nothing happens. It goes into a holding pattern and when I touch the cancel button of course the app stops running and I can't access it.

Greetings @SuzySailor!
Apps bring all kinds of utility and fun to your phone, so we want to help out with this anyway we can!
You can disable the fingerprint feature for the App store by going to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > iTunes & App Store to circumvent this issue.
However the fingerprint reader is very handy (pun) so we want to give you some potential fixes as well!
Sometimes a quick settings toggle will fix it up so try going to Settings -> Touch ID & Passcode -> Enter your Passcode. Then turn off iTunes & App Store. Reboot your iPhone or iPad. Go back to Touch ID & Passcode in Settings and turn iTunes & App Store back on.
If that fails try deleting and re-adding your prints!
Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > Enter your Passcode. The next screen should allow you to remove and re-add your fingerprints!
I hope that helps out! Feel free to keep us in the loop on this matter!
Have a fantastic day!
