Re: Clarification on the New Smartphone Data Plans!

when i was on the unlimited data plan with my iPhone, i was able to keep it when i switched to a non smart phone as someone told me to keep it since i would be getting another one.  when i got the other one it was switched and i had never requested it to be switched, and i was told from AT&T that since i was on an iPhone with an unlimited data plan that i can keep the plan no matter what since i would be getting another iPhone anyways.  my other line was able to keep unlimited on that iPhone and then upgraded to the blackberry and still gets unlimited.  my iPhone 4 now, i have the 2GB plan and i pay $25 a month for, and when i barely go over the 2GB i get charged $10 for it plus there is some kind of locker on my line for $5.  trust me, i use plenty of data in a months time.  i use this phone not only for my personal use but also for our business, and my job.  i pay 2500 a year for a cell phone bill and have been with at&t since 1998, been through the transitions of AT&T and cingular and back.  its just frustrating to know that i CAN keep something on my line that i KNOW i can keep if i already have it, but then this here is showing that AT&T can do what they want when they want, even when not renewing any contracts.

Re: Clarification on the New Smartphone Data Plans!

i have been fighting this since it happened...everyone tells me there is nothing they can do about it...between the iPhone 3 going down the toilet june 13th and the iPhone 4 purchased on 9/3, i had replaced it with a non smartphone, then an android, then a non smartphone then the iPhone and then i was required to change it.  they did not grandfather me for anything.  i just want it back on as it was before.  i never asked to change it, i was told i had to change it because it was no longer available, and grandfathering was not an option.  obviously, 13 years and $40,000+ later, my business is definately not important to at&t

so i get this email...

Thank you for contacting AT&T about your wireless service. My name is Larry [personal content edited], and I will be more than happy to assist you with your inquiry regarding data plans today.
I have gone in and changed the IMEI for 3700 and blocked data again.
I cannot even file a case for a claim on Unlimited Data for the iPhone for you since you have not had unlimited data on this line since 09/03/2010. In order for me to file a claim it must be within 90 days of having lost the unlimited data plan. I am sorry.
Telia, if you have any additional questions about your data plans please respond to this email. If you have a question about another issue, please send us a new email via the Contact Us link in the lower left-hand corner of your myAT&T account. Thank you for choosing AT&T; we appreciate your business.

Yes, if you lost your grandfathered data plan last september, it's highly unlikely you'll get it back nine months later.

this is the key statement

" i had replaced it with a non smartphone, then an android, then a non smartphone then the iPhone and then i was required to change it."

Twice a basic device was placed on the account, this in itself can trigger the removal of the unlimited data plan

Re: Clarification on the New Smartphone Data Plans!

I received this email from a rep today...it was added back on...

Dear Telia {Personal content removed for your safety},
Thank you for contacting AT&T about your wireless service. My name is Howard {Personal content removed for safety} and I understand it is frustrating to have your unlimited plan removed and have a data plan added to the wrong line. I am more than happy to assist you today with your inquiry regarding the data plans.
I called and left a voicemail on your line. I will receive your reply to this email. I escalated your issue, stating your value as a customer and how long you have been with us and that you were given misinformation at the point of sale. As a result, management agreed to make an exception and the $30 iPhone Unlimited Data package has been added to the **** line effective immediately. You will see a prorated (partial) charge for the previous package and a prorated charge for the new package before the discount on your next statement. Please make sure your Visual Voicemail and data are still functioning correctly. I apologize for the frustration this situation has caused.
Telia, if you have any additional questions about your data plan, please respond to this email. If you have a question about another issue, please send us a new email via the Contact Us link in the lower left-hand corner of your myAT&T account. Thank you for choosing AT&T; we appreciate your business.
