Hi @Erikmangolds!

I definitely apologize that you’re having issues with the SIM card in your iPhone 6s! I can understand how annoying that can be when you’re trying to use your phone! We can get this looked at together and see what can be the cause.

There are a few things that can I recommend troubleshooting, one of the following normally fixes that error right up:

  1. Turn off the device and remove the SIM card.
  2. Blow away or use a dry soft cloth to remove any dust/dirt/lint inside the battery compartment and around the SIM card slot.
    • If there is dust or other contaminate inside the SIM card slot, try using a compressed air canister to clear it.
    • Never insert anything into the SIM card slot to avoid damaging the terminals.
  3. Gently wipe the gold SIM card contacts with a soft cloth to remove any dust or oils.
    • Never use any form of liquid cleaner or abrasive.
  4. If available, use a soft rubber pencil eraser to clean the gold SIM card contacts, and a soft cloth to wipe away any eraser residue.
  5. Reassemble the device and turn back on.

For additional troubleshooting steps, click AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve.

If you are still having the SIM card error display on the screen, it can be an issue with the SIM card itself or the SIM card reader in the phone. You can have the SIM card replaced and tested in any AT&T Corporate store location FREE of charge!

Get me posted and let me know if a new SIM card fixes the issue! If you need any further help, don’t hesitate to follow back up with me! Take care.

I am having the same issue with my ATT Mexico chip - a new account, I went back to the store, he opened the chip and put it back in - it worked, that is until I got half-way home... then no SIM chip. I removed the chip and re-inserted it, and it worked for 2-3 minutes.

You need to talk to AT&T Mexico about problems with using their SIM.  It’s a separate company from US AT&T.  Where are you trying to use the phone?

Hi there @pridecomdigital, we want to you to be able to use your new account and service without issue.

There are a few things that might be causing this error, and they can either be due to a physical reason or a network issue. As we mentioned above, try removing the SIM and use compressed air to clear any dust or debris out of your SIM card reader. A dirty or damaged SIM card reader can cause working SIMs to not be recognized.

We also recommend you turn Airplane Mode on your phone momentarily, and then turn it back off to help your device reconnect to the towers around you.

Please let us know if you still need help by creating a new thread. The reason we recommend a new thread is because this current one is 6 years old and can be closed at any time.
