iphone call forwarding won't turn off

I recently turned on call forwarding for my iphone since since I wasn't going to be available to answer my phone for awhile.  Now, however, when I want to turn call forwarding off, I can't even access the call forwarding settings.  When I go to Settings and click on call forwarding, all I get is the spinning loading icon (for hours).  I never actually reach the call forwarding setting.  I am stuck with call forwarding turned on and an iphone that I can call out on but cannot receive calls.  Not a great feature for a smart phone.  I don't know if this is a hardware or a software issue.  Is this something that AT&T can help me with?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you very much.

Orange_Gear.jpgHi everyone,

We noticed an increase of views on this thread and wanted to address everyone's concern. Our customers are currently unable to activate or deactivate the Call Forwarding Feature. Not to worry, we are on it.

Our network teams are working to address this as quickly as possible. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

Try power cycling your phone. That will usually correct most issues.

Thanks Kdfederer, tried that early on and again just now.  Still no dice.  The phone still won't load the call forwarding settings.  I'm still stuck with call forwarding turned on.

Edit In my area at least, it appears as though the # codes aren't working right now (just time out), but if you want to be doubly sure you clear all of your call forwarding settings, you can do ##002# instead of ##21# (assuming yours doesn't timeout).

Edit 2 AT&T seemed to have some LTE service issues in my area, # codes working fine now, so I would give this a shot.

Hi @rtbaker1947. You can try dialing ##21# from your phone's dialer. This resets your "forward all" settings to their default. If for any reason that fails or you experience more trouble, customer care should be able to rectify that for you. I had that happen once when I had switched between iPhone and Android a couple of times. A quick update of my IMEI and having them disable call forwarding and I was good to go.

Hi rtbaker1947, et al:

The call forwarding failure to cancel has been a recurring issue with my previous iPone 5 and now with my iPhone 6. I thought Apple and/or AT&T had solved the issue, but this week it started again. I forward my phone every work day as I cannot have it in the workplace. When I come out and get the spinning wheel, it is painful! Dragging out the workday! The # codes did nothing, just timed out.

What system is failing? I routinely do the power-off reset, and sometimes it works. Today, I tried it 4 times with no joy. It would be helpful just to know if I am doing something wrong, or could change any setting that would aid in resolving this issue.

Thanks jt212s for the insights.

I have iphone 6 with ATT and call forwarding used to work for me.  A month ago I turned it on successfully and was able to turn it off at the end of the day.

I tried call forwarding today, and now I can't turn it off.  I power cycled the phone and I get the spinning circle when I try to toggle call forwarding.  The call forwarding icon isn't even displayed on the top of the phone anymore, but the iphone is still forwarding my calls.

I think it's a software issue because that's the only thing that changed between the time it worked and today when it doesn't work.

Frustrated.  Need help!

Ok I dialed #21# and that worked.  My phone is not call forwarding anymore.  I think that turned all my phone settings to default.  I'm not going to mess with call forwarding anymore and treat it like a worthless feature on my phone.

Interestingly, the call waiting toggle also has the spinning circle on my phone settings.

On you keyy pad  ##002# wait till it finishes. Hit dismaiss. Power off your phone wait ten seconds then reboot the phone back on go to settings and turn off the call forwarding. Give it about 20 to 30 seconds

Anyone experiencing issues with the iPhone not properly showing call forwarding should contact customer service and make sure the IMEI in the billing system is up to date. Sometimes when the IMEI in the billing system is not for the same kind of device actually being used it causes weird issues with that. Even though the network knows you're using an iPhone, something just doesn't work right.

I have been unable to forward my iPhone 6+ for over 3 weeks and it is critical for my job. I spent over 2 hours at a retail center 2 weeks ago with a rep who honestly tried her best reaching out to different levels of tech service.  The highest level advised her that it was a network error.  10 days later still unable to forward my phone I went back to ther retail center to be told they couldn't do anything and it was probably the phone.

Desperate to get this resolved I went to Apple and the Genius Bar reset the firmware - still didnt work.  While we were talking my phone received an AT&T network update but the forward function still did not work.  Apple then replaced my phone and it still does not work.  Note that in order to insure that this is not an app induced error I did not restore my phone to the new phone before I tried the forward function.  It did not work.

To further attempt to isolate this, I tried call forwarding on my husband's old iPhone 5 and it worked fine.  When I tried it on a colleague's Verizon iPhone 6+ call forwarding worked.  So it seems to be isolated to iPhone 6+ with AT&T service in my geographic area (Colorado front range).

When I try the **21* hack to forward the phone I receive a screen full of errors that state "Setting Registration Failed Voice Call Forwarding on All Calls", "Setting Registration Failed Data Call Forwarding On All Calls", Setting Registration Failed Fax Call Forwarding On All Calls", "Setting Registration Failed Async Data Circuit Call Forwarding On All Calls", "Setting Registration Failed Packet Access Call Forwarding On All Calls", and "Setting Registration Failed Pad Access Call Forwarding On All Calls".

This absolutely sounds like a network error.  So how do I get this fixed?  I have spent far too many hours trying to resolve this and need some serious help at this point.
