Can I move the Sim card from old iphone 6 plus to new iphone XR

Just purchased a new iPhone XR from Apple.. Can I move the Sim card from old iphone 6 plus to new iphone XR??

Do I need to call AT&T to update any info?    I used Chat to talk to a rep. & he told me I could I think.. If I understood

him all I need to do is put the Sim in the new phone & everything will work.. Just want to double check & make sure

there are no surprises..  TIA

Can I take my SIM card out my iPhone 6s and put it in a unlocked iPhone XR and all my cellular service and everything still work?

Hi @! Allow us to provide you with Sim swap information!

Yes, to swap out your SIM card please make sure the new device is an AT&T device/unlocked phone and your SIM card fits to the new device. Turn off device > Insert the SIM card > Turn back on your new device.

Learn more about SIM swap Between Devices on the link provided and how to fix concerns that may arise. Also, make sure to reach back to us to update your IMEI number(a unique 15 digit code that precisely identifies the device with the sim card input) or visit our nearest AT&T Store for assistance.

We hope this is helpful! Thank you for reaching out to the community!

@Summerreinhart Yes, you can move the SIM card from the 6s to the XR and all your services will work. That is exactly how I upgraded from a 6s to an XR. There should be no need to contact ATT about the imei number, it should update automatically. Mine did.
