AT&T text messages are not sending

Even though I have 3 bars of service my iphone won't send imessages or regular text messages. The phone is not on airplane mode and I have tried restarting the phone as well. Any suggestions?

I am having a similiar issue. This morning everything was just working fine. Then, around late noon, I was trying to send a SMS text message. And it gives me the message that's it's unavaible to send. I usually get this message when I have no service. But i have 2-6 bars of service. But it won't send. The person whom I was messaging says she gets the messages. Though, now I can't receive her messages. I have full connection at times, but it still says it hasn't sent. What should I do?

I am not able to get texts through wifi with AT&T on iMessages but my dad has Verizon and he can receive text and calls through iMessages why is it different for AT&T?

I had this problem.  I tried everything.  Then I started cleaning out the old messages.  That opened up enough space for messages to send.

Trying to text another line that is within my billing plan and continuously failed.

Tried texting 6-1-1 (AT&T Customer service) with same results. 

 

Tried calling customer service and the first rep (Arthur) laughed at me. 

Second attempt wanted a pass code which I dont have and "could not help me" yet I pay the bill.

 

This is assinine to say the least.

 

F&*$# you AT&T!!!

There is something going on with AT&T. We have had a group chat for a couple years, no problem we all had iPhones- I'm with Verizon , the rest with AT&T. Everything went thru iMessage. My sister just switched to android. we changed her contact information from iPhone to mobile#. My message translates to text and everyone can see it. My sisters with iPhones and who are with AT&T have to turn off I message every time they want to send group message, otherwise message is sent as iMessage. We have all correct settings. I have spent hours trying to get this resolved. The carrier is the one who translates the data, not the phone...Verizon has it down, AT&T doesn't.

Right when you mentioned that your sister made the change from iPhone to Android, we found the culprit! It is seeming as though she still needs to deregister her iPhone from iMessage. This is a rather easy fix!

 

To deregister the device, you can click on Deregister iMessage from the Apple Support website.

My husband just arrived in Honduras. He changed to an international plan for the month. They arrived and turned phone on at airport and now his texts are not sending. My son is with him and his are sending. If it matters, husband using android, son using iPhone.

I recently switched my service to TracFone which uses Verizon towers. After leaving my service area for vacation, my text messages started to work only sporadically. Now, back home, having replaced my SIM card, I am able to send messages to nearly everyone but I don't receive replies from most ATT subscribers, altho they do receive my messages and text back. Is this an Android issue (my device) or an ATT- Verizon issue? Anyone experience the same thing? I had no problem with texting for the first few months of service with Tracking on this android. I do keep my data turned off and use WiFi but I didn't think that should effect text only messages.

Even though I service, I am periodically unable to send texts. This has happened several times in the last couple days. I've not had this problem before. Is ATT having some kind of intermittent problems? I am located in central Pennsylvania (Harrisburg area).
