why do my emails disappear?

In my email app  i create subfolders under inbox  in which to move and save my incoming emails by categories. When i open the subfolder  i see my saved emails for a split second, then they disappear from my subfolder. It only happens in my subfolders i created, not my primary inbox.  Why is this happening?

Good afternoon @Privetfla!

I would first start with clearing the cache on your phone and then uninstalling and reinstalling the email app on your Android.

It is possible you are being affected by the Yahoo email unmerge.  I’m going to share this article Yahoo Merged E-mail Accounts Getting Unmerged which explains the changes and how to troubleshoot your account.

Please take a look at the section What about my Sub-accounts? Any subaccounts which were linked to a Yahoo account, the AT&T E-mail account will be empty and all the E-mails, contacts, and other things will be stay with the Yahoo account.

If these steps do not assist, please get back in touch with us. Thank you!

Hi @Privetfla!

When you visit sites, your app stores files for later reference in case you visit again, they’ll reload more quickly. These are the files which are cleared. It can help you get some space freed up or help fix a misbehaving app. Clearing your cache will not clear other data like logins or saved files. It’s considered good device maintenance.  Here is a short article describing it, Why you should clear your Cache and Cookies.

If you need the steps on how to do it on your particular device, you can choose your device on this Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool page and then go to App Troubleshooting. All the steps you need are listed there with photos.

Hope this was helpful.

Hi Heidi, When you clear a cache, exactly what data gets disposed of?

I fail to understand why anyone is thanking Heidi given that her answer was entirely unresponsive to the issue of emails disappearing.

Caches and cookies related to visiting websites have nothing to do with emails disappearing from the Inbox (or other folders).  Nor are disappearing mails necessarily related to using a smartphone - it can/does happen looking a the same inbox on a tablet and on a desktop.   Nor are missing emails related to the email client in use since mine disappear simultaneously from the K-9 client on my smartphone and tablet and also from my desktop client, Thunderbird.  All are using IMAP,  and the only feature they have in common is they connect to the AT&T/Yahoo server as a bellsouth.net email address is the issue, so the problem must lie there. AT&T email tech support was clueless and promised to have an escalation specialist call me back -- they never did so (of course; do they ever?).  Heidi's answers refer to smartphones, caches, cookies, app troubleshooting, etc.  - none relevant or helpful to the real problem:  disappearance from the server (including Trash and Spam mailboxes, of course) that is set on my account to send all messages without spam filtering.
