Will WiFi Calling be supported on the OnePlus 7 Pro?

As the title states. I've read threads where "ATT doesn't support Wifi calling on unlocked BYODs, but the Pixel 3/3XL are supported.

So, will ATT also support the OnePlus 7 Pro?

my guess would be NO..  The pixel 3 and 3xl are one offs.  The new pixel 3a does not get wifi calling right now.

That's pretty tragic. Really, really depressing that ATT chooses to keep these now-standard features "locked" to phones purchased directly from them. I don't think they understand that it actually drives customers AWAY from them instead of forcing us to buy phones from ATT. T-Mobile, here we come!

ATT and Verizon also know that Tmobile won't cut it for about 50% or a little more people...  I can't use Tmobile because they are to cheap to install more towers in rural areas in IL.

Good morning @christophersg

Thanks for your post.

As you stated - the Pixel 3/3XL are supported and we
plan to support other non branded devices. However we are unable to confirm if the OnePlus 7 Pro will be.

Thanks, Kenneth. It'd really be a huge deal if you guys consider supporting OnePlus and other devices. I can tell you right now that most people who purchase these phones will gladly switch carriers before they ever switch phones to stay with their service provider. And, OnePlus is now a pretty large company with quite a few people around the US, and there are tons of threads on both OnePlus forums and Reddit where their users are begging ATT for Wifi Calling. I can only see the network gaining positive momentum from this sort of move (especially since other carriers already support it!).

😮.  From Kenneth’s lips to whoever’s ears it takes to get this done.

AT&T will lose all travel business next year if it doesn’t open the door to non carrier androids.

Nah..  I had VoLTE service last year in Mexico with a OG Pixel.  Its depended on the carrier you are roaming on not ATT from what I have read.

Not US folks roaming - it’s the  non US folks who come to the USA.

AT&T is the carrier used most often by travelers.  The foreign phones don’t have band 13, and AT&T has the best coverage (2nd best)

When 3g shuts down, all those European and Asian and Down-under travelers won’t be able to use their own phones.  Not unless AT&T will let up on Volte.

Kenneth,

I'd have to agree with @christophersg regarding switching carriers. At this point, there is not a big difference between Big Red and Big Yellow. No real consumer choice in today's duopoly. I'd gladly switch back to Red if they support the unlocked OnePlus 7 Pro. OnePlus has stated that the OnePlus 7 Pro is certified for Open Development and that it should be in Big Red's certified device list soon. Do not give users more reasons to jump ship; especially in this era of long ownership cycles of phones. A OnePlus 7 Pro customer might be gone for 5 years before you get another crack at them. That assumes that they would consider buying their next phone from someone other than OnePlus as well.
