Why does the software update notification keep returning highlighted? I check for an update and my device is up to date.

Having your device up-to-date is definitely important, and I understand wanting to resolve this issue.
The first thing you will want to do is check out the excellent AT&T Device Support Tool, which provides details about available versions. After selecting your phone’s make and model, click on Tutorials > System & Storage. If there’s an available version, please make sure to meet the requirements listed.
The AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool is a great way to identify and resolve software issues. After logging into your account or selecting the specific device model, click on Software Update to get started.
