Unlock request

Hello. I tried to unlock the phone through your service, but was refused. The letter says that I sent the unlock request too often. But it is not. I sent the request only three times with a break of several months and every time got the same answer. I would like to know when and how to unlock the phone.

Re: Unlock request

Allow us to look into that for you, @roman-rud!

What was the response you received after submitting your first device unlock request? Also, does your device meet our eligibility requirements?

Feel free to fill us in so that we may provide assistance.

Re: Unlock request

Hello! Here is the answer I received:   “We can't unlock your device today.

Hi

You've tried to unlock this device too many times. Wait 30 days and then submit a new request.

Thanks for choosing us,
AT&T

This is an automated email. If you reply to this address, we won't get it.”

The phone is legal. I bought a phone in the US a year ago and used it for three weeks. Since then, I do not use it. I don’t know if the contract is considered completed - I don’t know how to check it.

Re: Unlock request

Hi, @roman-rud,

Did you make one unlock request and then waited a few months before making another and months between the next one? If not, from the message received, it sounds like someone is making multiple requests in a short period of time which would cause the system to lock it against unlocking for a month.

Even though you only used the phone for three weeks, you will have needed to have service with us on the phone for sixty days on a postpaid account or for six months on a prepaid account.  Take a look at the things to know on unlocking your device with AT&T and the eligibility requirements provided in the previous message.

Re: Unlock request

I made only three requests with a break of several months each. The answer to the very first request was exactly the same. I still do not understand what is happening with my contract. It was probably a prepaid contract. I only used it for three weeks. For six months I had no need and opportunity to renew the contract. I do not live in the USA. Do I have to pay to terminate the contract? How to understand this? Where can I send IMEI of my phone and get instructions on how to act, and not just a refusal, but also for such a strange reason, which does not really exist. Or a clear explanation, if the phone can not be unlocked under any circumstances, then I just throw it away.
