Unexplained periodic background music on my Galaxy S7

Out of the blue one day my Galaxy S7 Edge phone started having background music. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not there, I can be talking on the phone and it will be playing. I have no idea where it's coming from, what's causing it or how to turn it off. Can somebody please help me is most annoying.

Hello there @LauraR!

Having unexpected music coming from your phone is definitely unusual.  I can completely understand wanting to get this fixed, as it would distract me like nothing else.  Let’s find out what is going on!

Based on my research, the most common cause for this would be an app playing in the background.  This can happen if it didn’t close properly.  One of the easiest ways to check this is tap the Recent apps key in the bottom left on the front of the phone.  This should show you all current apps, and you can tap the X to close them out.

If you do not find any music apps, then the next thing to check would be if you have the YouTube app.  Similarly the browser or some social media apps cause this to happen.  Once you check any of these sources, I highly recommend powering the phone off completely for 30 seconds.  As soon as it is turned back on, be on the lookout to see if the issue comes back.

For any steps to find settings, or guides to make adjustments to your phone, please check out our Device Support page for the S7.  After selecting the make and model, click on Tutorials to get started.

I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any other questions!
