Traveling with AT&T Samsung TAB 3 7.0 LTE

How to I unlock the device to use oversea (mainly in South East Asia countries)?   I bought the device from Bestbuy at full retail price and no contract.

I thought the device was already unlocked since it was no contract.   I put the AIS Thailand SIM in and I got the error "Network Locked SIM Card inserted".

I tried AT&T self unlock web service but I can't progress any further because I have to enter the phone number and IMEI in to the form.

Could someone point me to the right direction to get this unlocked please?

Thanks,

Nid

Thank you for the reply.   I should not have the difficulty unlocking the device but I am.

I returned the device already because AT&T rep told me I can't get this device unlock as I have not met the requirement.

Below is what the AT&T agent told me...

Me: Hello

AT&T agent name removed: Hi, I see you have a device unlock request then today..

Me: how do I do that. We are traveling on 12/25/2013 to Thailand and Vietnam.

AT&T agent name removed: and which line is this that you want to unlock?

Me: Not phone, just my tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 from AT&T

Me: I just purchased it last night.

AT&T agent name removed: Thanks for that. and the phn number on the device?

Me: I already have an unlocked phones I use for travel.

Me: This is the problem I can't use the self unlock service on the web site.

AT&T agent name removed: Yes-- I need the last 4 of the device phn number..

Me: This device is brand new, no contract. Therefor no phone number associated with the device.

Me: Ummm, no number.

Me: An AT&T number or number of *ANY* SIM card?

AT&T agent name removed: I can not unlock a device where there is no line of service attached to it. The device needs to be under contract for 90 days with AT&T service before it can be unlocked according to AT&T policy. Have you read the terms and conditions for unlock requests on myatt.com? I believe all of this is spelled out there...

Me: THis device paid in full retail not subcidy device.

Me: And if you look at my account history you will see I am not going anywhere.

AT&T agent name removed: I understand. The terms and conditions of an unlock state that the device has to have been activated and in service on AT&T before it can be unlocked. This is just AT&T policy....

Me: Wow - just wow.

AT&T agent name removed: I know, policy is not very flexible in this case...

Me: MAybe it's time for me to going somewhere.

AT&T agent name removed: We would hate to see that! I have no latitude on this policy....

Me: Oh, well. I guess I can't get this thing unlocked so it going back to bestbuy.

Me: So me and my 3 lines once contract is over.

AT&T agent name removed: I am sorry to hear that.
