Transferring contacts to new phone

I got  galaxy j7 to replace my j3 because the screen broke. I can't seem to transfer any phone numbers and messages, etc. Because the old phone screen cannot be used. Isn' this stuff backed up? How do I get it on my new phone without using the old phone, since the screen is unusable???
