Switchin sim cards from at&t phone to metro phone

Currently I have a Samsung galaxy express 3 on a at&t prepaid plan. A friend has decided to give me her old phone because she got a new one, she has a Samsung galaxy J7 on a Metro PCS prepaid plan. If I take my sim card from my current phone and put it in the new phone, will the new phone have service without any problems, or will I have to get my sim card flashed over?

Good Morning @haleylove09,

Welcome to the Community Forums!  Switching out the SIM cards seems like a really great solution; even though there are a few more steps which need to be taken.

Your friend needs to make sure her phone is unlocked.  She can request Metro PCS to do this for her.  After she does this, you would have to call AT&T or use the chat option to get the phone activated and to deactivate the phone you are currently using.

I hope this helps!  Have a great day.
