Support on AT&T for my Tri-band smartphone

Hello I am moving to Salt Lake City, UT this august and wish to bring my smartphone with me from India, but my phone is a tri-band smartphone which supports the following frequency bands :-

2G NetworkGSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2
3G NetworkHSDPA 1900 / 2100

Will my phone work with an AT&T simcard on a 3G network  in the US ?

Please guide me.

AT&T uses 850 and 1900 MHz for both 2G and 3G.  Which band is used, varies by region, and from what I understand they are trying to move away from 1900 and increase use of 850.

This means your phone may or may not work in the SLC area (depending on whether they use 1900 band there); and also will not work if you travel to other (850 band) regions on the AT&T network.

My advice would be to either buy an AT&T device when you arrive in the US; or find an unlocked phone compatible with 850 and 1900 and GSM(2G) and 3G.  If you have to buy a phone anyway, getting an AT&T branded phone is the easiest way to guarantee network compatibility.
