Scheduling text messages

I'm using Android Pie (v9) and I cannot figure out how to schedule my text messages. Others posted about scheduling texts on other versions but I really can't find the option anywhere in the message app and I don't want to use a different app.  Help!

I have a Samsung Galaxy s8 plus. I've been trying for a few hours now to find the right option, but I'm throwing in the towel. I'd love to find out how to schedule a text so that it sends automatically at a later, predetermined, time. My device is currently running android pie (9) and I use the default messaging app which is on v10.0.10.221. If I need to create a new thread for this, I would be happy to, but I felt this thread was similar enough and left somewhat open ended. If you need more info on my device or my question is too vague please just ask, I'll welcome any help! Thank you in advance.

Samsung phones with stock app:   The option to schedule messages has been moved back and forth between the 3 dots (top right)  and the + sign (left of text box).   My S9 on pie has it in the + sign (again).    Lack of consistency has driven me to Google Pixel.

Pixel and one plus:   Texta has the option.

Hi @Packeer

Thanks for reaching out to us today.

To schedule a text message, open the app, pick a recipient and type your message. After you are done, tap the three dots in the top right-hand corner and pick Schedule message. The Send icon should then have a small clock in it. Pick your time and date for the message to send. If you press and hold on the message, you will see a menu that lets you send it now, cancel it, or make edits to the text or scheduled time. Hope this helps but please let us know if you need further assistance.

@Packeer

What phone are you using?   I have Pie on my 6t and had to install Textra because it doesn’t have the ability to schedule messages anymore.

In previous updates the schedule funtion moved from the 3 dots to the  + sign and back again.  Very useful feature.

Those options do nothing on Samsung (or any other phone).  The option given are ‘paste’ or ‘fill’.
