Receiving virus warnings

I've received three warnings of potential viruses due to files downloaded from an adult site.  I have not been on any adult sites.  I have closed the window and not responded.  Is there anything else to do?

Hey @MacCor,

I completely understand the importance of making sure your phone stays secure.  With all of the personal things we store on our devices, it would be a nightmare to have a virus on it.  It would be my pleasure to help with this.

First, I would recommend performing a master reset of your device.  This will erase all content, and set the device back to factory settings.  It would be best if you completed a backup of your data before doing this master reset.  This will ensure you can restore all of your information once you’re finished.

After you get this device reset, a great option is to download an app called Lookout.  It’s an Anti-viral app which will help your device stay secure.  You can visit this support page, which will have some helpful information about this app.

Please, don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any further assistance with this!

Good day!

@MacCor

The notice may be bogus.  It may be adware trying to get you to pay for virus software.

@MacCor I agree with @lizdance40 this is in all likelihood a scam to scare you into purchasing anti-virus software.

Some times a quick clear of cache and data from the browser you use on the device will clear out these warnings.

Settings/app mgr/click on browser app or chrome app(or whatever you use to surf internet) then clear data.  Hope this helps, depending on the type of device and software you may need to click on storage after  clicking on the app to get to clear data.
