Nougat update
I have a galaxy note 5 but have not received the nougat update. I have constant access to wi-fi and I have already gone to my settings and looked under device and had it search for any updates. But it continued to tell me that all of my software is up to date. But it's clearly not. Any help or info as to what the issue might be or how to resolve it would be greatly appreciated.

We have a wonderful resource you can utilize for this. It is our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool. To begin please go under Device/software issues > Software update. From here, please follow the given instruction.
If the issue persists, I would suggest making sure you backup your device, then doing a factory reset. This should definitely trigger the software once it is reset.
