No data

Since last software update my Samsung galaxy s6 active says no data. Can power it off and back on and it's fine but after a little while it shows no data again. Why is it doing that? I don't like this new upgrade and the changes in my contacts.

Thanks for joining the Community Forums!  I am very sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing with the S6 since the update.  I would be happy to help!

 

Normally a power-cycle of the device can clear up many issues with staying attached to the network.  When the disconnect keeps happening, we will want to make sure the software update settled into the phone correctly.

 

One of the best ways to check this is by completing a master rest of the phone.  This can seem a little daunting, but we will get it all taken care of.   The most important step is to make sure the device is backed up, which means all of your media is saved.

 

Our Device Support page is an awesome resource, with guided walkthroughs of all the steps needed.  After reaching the page, please select your make/model and then choose Tutorials > Backup & restore.  You will be able to pick which method works best for you.

 

As soon as everything is saved, you can find the steps for the reset by going to Tutorials > Troubleshooting > Reset device.  Once the phone comes back up, please see if the data connection remains strong.

 

If this does not resolve this issue, or you have already performed the reset, we will want to take a look at the SIM card in the phone.  The Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool available online is like having tech support anytime day or night.  After choosing the S6, please select Service/network issues > Internet to get started.

I did a master reset. It was a real pain getting my contacts and apps restored but I did get it done. I have only seen the no data briefly 2 times nothing like it was doing before. Thank you for your help. If I continue have issue in future I will get a new Sims card.
