AT&T Forum Help: No Signal & No Service – Restore Service On Your Android

Resolve Text Messaging, Call, and  Picture Messaging Issues

Restarting your device can resolve issues like:

  • Texts not sending
  • Not getting pictures
  • No signal or no service - search for network
  • LTE connection issues (Internet)
  • Dropped Calls
  • iPhone messages not going to Android

To restart your device, just turn it off and back on. Have an Apple device? Visit our Apple Text & Call article.

More Solutions to Try

Toggle Airplane Mode

Most devices have the option to place your device in airplane mode. Airplane mode while designed to power down while in the air, can help sync your phone or device to the nearest tower.

Reset the network

  1. From the home screen, tap the settings icon.
  2. Scroll down and select General.
  3. From the general screen, scroll down and select reset.
  4. You will be taken to the reset screen. Select Reset Network Settings. Resetting the network deletes saved Wi-Fi Networks.

Note: For specific instructions on how to reset your device, visit our Device How-To.Select your device's brand or model > Your Device > Tutorials > Troubleshooting > Reset Device

Apple vs Android Messaging

When iMessage is in use, it may prevent Andriod users from receiving the message. This is because iMessage uses servers that do not communicate with AT&T. Try turning off iMessage and test.

Clear cache to text message

Go to Setting >Tap on Apps > Select Messages app > Tap Storage > Select Clear Cache.

Troubleshooting The Sim Card

Removing the SIM and placing back into the phone.

  1. Turn off the device
  2. Remove the SIM card (Use the SIM Removal Tool that came with the phone)
  3. Clean it with a soft cloth
  4. Place the SIM back into the phone.
  5. Power it on and test.

If you see dirt or dust in the SIM Slot, we recommend using a product like Air Duster to remove it.

If the SIM looked damaged, chat with our teams to order a replacement.

I'm not receiving messages on time. I receive messages several hours late to whole day-three days late. Even when using 4G network with 3-4 bars and using WiFi calling sometimes and still receive messages late. My Friends/Family sometime ask why I didn't text back? I text back all the time and they don't receive my messages. Which it shows on my phone that it had been sent because the loading circle thingy don't show once it sent. I'm in a relationship and this isn't good at all. People try to reach me and I don't receive they message.. Oh! Yeah. And I don't receive their phone calls either (Sigh). Last night my partner called said he called several times and I didn't receive not one. Even my other friends told me that Three weeks ago. And when I called them my phone calls drops even when I have 4G with a few bars or all bars.... This is sickening I'm not a very happy customer anymore. I have a Galaxy S5 and had since December 2015 and its 2017 first time having this problem ever. Is it possible my phone need Re-provisioning. Or What?! Help Please

Hello,

I am unable to send or receive MMS.  I have had my Galaxy Mega 2 for about 5  years and  I have never had a problem.  Could you please advise me on what to do or maybe walk me though the process of being able to receive or send my photos.

Thank You,

Liz Bateman

Me too! Regardless throughout 3 phones, new SIM cards & even phone number - would help for a few days here n there then back to no service for most of the months this year & regardless of signal... Which I've yet to be compensated for while paying $50 a month to get the "#AT&T Unlimited No Service Plan"...

AT&T has not fixed this issue.

My wife and I just purchased net Galaxy S9 phones and switched our service to Consumer Cellular from Sprint. Big mistake!

Or cell service has been non existent sine day one.

The fist day a month ago customer service told us to go to Target and get AT&T sim cards for the phones. We did, made no difference in our signal. So last week I went to Ebay and purchased an Cell Phone Signal Booster. I installed the booster today.  Using the LTE Discovery app. I found my signal went from 102dbm to 65 to 70 dbm full bars. However, when we try to make a call the signal drops out to no service. We can not make or receive calls from inside our home.

Now customer service is sending us new sim cards again. This time we are going back to T-mobile sims. I have saw people say that calls are not made over the LTE signal. Having said that I am getting no GSM signal.

First they put new sims card on his old phone then he ended up paying 1200$ for a new iPhone and it still with no service at his home . It stops service the home beside him and his home . If he can’t get service now what was the use of him having to buy a new phone like the store told him . They probably didn’t look on the tower map for his service but why has it stop picking up in all these years and now no service .
