Hi @zatchu!

Welcome to the AT&T Community Forums! Thank you for letting me know that you are having an issue with your LG V10. What good is a phone if it dies before you get a chance to use it right? Well, let’s see if we can try some things to get the phone’s battery life to improve.

Battery life is measured by standby time and talk time.

  • Standby time is the amount of time the device stays powered on with no voice, data or other usage.
  • Talk time is based on voice usage.
  • Using data such as web browsing, apps, or streaming reduces overall talk time.

In order to improve battery life, you can:

  • Stop running apps that are not being used.
  • Disable apps that are consuming too much battery or RAM and not being used.
  • Turn off Bluetooth when not in use.
  • Adjust display settings to lowest setting or Use Automatic brightness.
  • Turn off GPS when not in use.
      - If disabled, certain apps or services may not work properly.
  • Turn off Wi-Fi when not in use.
     - If disabled, certain apps or services may not work properly.
  • Turn off vibrate mode if not used.
  • Change account sync settings to lowest frequency.
  • Remove widgets automatically update.

You can go to the Device How To page to get instructions on how to do the things that I mentioned above. From there, you can also read, download and print your user manual.

You can perform basic troubleshooting steps by using our AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve tool available online. Make sure that your device’s brand name and model is selected. Select “Power and Battery” under “Select a Device - Related Issue”. This may help identify the issue and tell you how to resolve it.

Hope this helps!

I know all that and the only thing I can do is turn off Wifi and Data but before the update I could leave the WiFi on and it would go into doze. Now it want. I'm going to do a factory reset and see if that works.

I've experienced exactly the same problem -- since the August update, my H900 V10 battery drain rate has almost doubled.

Zatchu, I've seen references elsewhere to mixed success from doing a factory reset (although these experiences seem to relate more to the 6.0 update in May, which for me had no noticeable effect on charge life).  How did it work out for you?

Kevin, thank you for the general list of actions to reduce battery drain, but they don't appear to address specifically the sharp increase in drain rate associated with AT&T's latest update.  The two specific clues about possible culprits are (i) some possible impairment of the "doze" function (although others associate that with the earlier 6.0 update), and (ii) the only apparent change from the most recent update, the inclusion of WiFi calling.  Are there any specific actions that owners can take with respect to those two functions?

I had great results with doing a factory reset on my V10 It took about 3 day's after the reset before my battery life went back to normal.       I hope that this will help you.

Hey there @Mcafeej!

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with you and your husbands’ phone. Do you both have the LG V10? The update is supposed to help stabilize your phone and make it run smoother. At times, strange things can happen after installing an update. A factory reset may do the trick for you as well.

Please go to the Device Support page for instructions on how to back up your device and how to perform a factory reset. Select your phone make and model.

For backup instructions - Click on “View All Solutions”. Under Device Topics on the left side, click on “Backup and Restore. For reset instructions - Under Device Topics, click on Troubleshooting and Reset Device.

Hope this helps!

So, on the basis of recommendations here and elsewhere, I decided that a "Factory reset" of my H900 LG V10 made sense as a potential corrective for the high battery drain rate following the most recent Android OS update.

I carefully backed up my phone to my Windows 10 PC using the OEM's LG Bridge software.  I then did the factory reset.  But when I try to restore my phone content using LG Bridge, I invariably get an error message (appearing ~40% through the second cycling of the "Preparing to restore" phase) saying "The backup is corrupted and cannot be restored."

I've rebooted both the phone and PC, but the message persists.  The same message appears if I try to restore the next most recent backup (3 weeks old).

One possible contributing factor is that after performing the backup, I swapped out my SD card for another (larger) one.  I returned the original SD card to the reset phone and tried again to restore, but LG Bridge then no longer recognizes the phone and issues an error message "Your mobile device is not supported by LG Bridge.  Use PC Suite IV . . ."

There appears to be minimal support for LG Bridge on the LG website, and a call to the LG support number only resulted in my being cut off after being placed on hold for a long time.  There doesn't appear to be any reference to this issue here in the AT&T forums.  I'm very concerned to recover all my lost settings (particularly the calendar, contacts, and log data, etc.), and would greatly welcome help in locating the backup files and parsing them to the maximum extent possible.

its time for a new phone is all the help that can be given as you are starting to see signs of the bootloop problem with that phone.
