Moto Atrix 4G notification

I have had certain notifications (Twitter, Gmail) fail to display in the notification bar on my phone. Does anyone know if this is a device issue, a server issue, has something to do with the applications or if there is some sort of software conflict that is known? A third party app for my mail (MailDroid) does bring up my Gmail notifications, at least.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
