Message on phone says no sim card

I just got a new Samsung 8 active. It fell on the floor last night-nothing broken visably but I cannot make or receive calls and it says "no sim card "

Hello @TXGATOR

We can help get you with that!

Try to power down your device and remove the sim card. Make sure there are no dust or debris by gently wiping the SIM card with a soft cloth. Insert the sim card back into the device and power back on.

If you continue to receive the error, you can Factory Reset your device. Make sure to back up and sync your files onto your desktop or laptop.

You can view the instructions in our Backup & Sync Article for additional assistance.

We hope this information helps, and have a great afternoon!

Thank you. My brother had a pantech flip phone and he had the new Chip put in with his number in a new android phone. They said his contact information should be on his Pantech flip phone not on the Sim card. They didn’t put the Sim card back in his old phone and his contacts are not coming up on the old phone so he can transfer them manually. Is there anyway we can get his messages/contacts and voicemails or at least contacts? Thanks.
