Marshmallow update for Galaxy S6 Active (SM-G890a).

When are we to expect the S6 Active to receive the MM 6.0 update?

Hi @wardawg

Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

That is the highly asked question these days. We know our Galaxy S6 Active owners are excited about the new Marshmallow update. I am excited about it too, as I wait for it to be released for my device. I understand the wait may be frustrating but we are working diligently to get the update to you.

We are putting the 6.0 update and your device through extensive testing to ensure full compatibility. Once we are sure that the Marshmallow update will successfully operate on your phone with no issues, we will release it to you. As of now, I don’t have a firm date for when this will happen. Rest assured, when available, you will receive an over the air notification on your device with step-by-step instructions to update your software.

Thank you so much for your patience!

"I understand the wait may be frustrating but we are working diligently to get the update to you." My answer to this statement "B--- S---"

Why is at&t so enept and incompetant at updating phones on time and in timely manner. All other cell phones companies in the US have already done the marshmellow updates months ago.

This schedule is totally ridiculous and pathetic. Join the 21st century and keep up or get out of the business of cell phones.

Update the S6 Active Now.

I will never buy an at&t exclusive phone again. This should be the first not the last phone that at&t releases the update for.. They should at least skip 6.0 and go with 6.01 but will prob be 2018 before that happens. Maybe you should stop with all the at&t crapware so you can release faster. Nobody uses those apps anyway. The only reason why the Google play stats are high is because the apps are preloaded. They are all terrible. Can't believe I have to wait for your crack QA team to test those. Ok I'm done griping. Boy that felt good.

Hi Tim, can you explain exactly what sort of "testing" is needed? Didn't Samsung already test it? Considering the GS6 Active is virtually identical to the standard GS6, and that phone already has marshmallow, why does it need additional testing? You don't require testing for unlocked phones like the Nexus devices and they work just fine on your network (arguably better in fact, since they get frequent updates).

Considering the Acive models are exclusive to AT&T in the US, one would imagine AT&T would want those to be among the first to roll out new software...

Please release the mm update. It is on the web but I do not want to get

my S6 active out of sync with the official update (for future updates).

It really should be updated first and formost being that it is an At&t exclusive device. Why does At&t even do the exclusive device deal anyway? It's not like people are switching to At&t over it. Save the money from the exclusive deals and invest it in your software update team.

Long overdue! Why is the S6 Active the last phone to get Marshmallow...like it is that much different than a standard S6? Please release this update!

The delay for the update for the S6 active phones are most likely due to prioritization. I agree that in theory AT&T exclusive phones should be high in the list, but the reality is it is about which phones have sold the most and are being used. I'd be willing to bet the order of effort and release schedule is aligned with phone popularity as well as how new it is (potential sales). These are clearly business decisions by AT&T. My opinion only...
