LG V20 cannot update software
Experiencing issues with my LG V20. Found out online that the current software version for this phone is Aug 25 2018 / Android 8.0. My phone shows Oct 1 2018 / Android 7.0. Clicked update software, phone said I am already up to date.
Called AT&T. They sent me to Cricket. They sent me to LG. They sent me to AT&T. So on.
Cannot update phone and no one seems to be responsible for assisting.

Hello, @jhirmann,
We'd love to help with this. Here's information on software updates for the LG V20 through AT&T. Take a look at things to know about updating the software on your device through AT&T. there is a list of requirements to receive the download. Is your current carrier Cricket or AT&T? If it isn't AT&T, you won't receive the software update.

You wont get it anyway. As an att customer, with an activated att sim card, I never received the update. I called numerous times, went into an att store, talked with att through email and facebook and did an online chat. Nobody at att would help. They either said they were not authorized to give me the update or sent me to someone else who didn't know what they were doing. I have since left att and went to a company who appreciates the people that are paying them to provide a service. Will never ever use att again. I suggest you leave while you can.

Thank you!! I have spent the last week being jerked around by Samsung and AT&T ADVANCED! Technical support regarding my locked branded Samsung S7 active that I am still making monthly payments on and which has not received an update since April 2017..( now 01/29/19 )
I was told AT&T ( thru above mentioned ' technical support ' had NO OPTION to push thru a missed security or software update on ANY device..
Not Samsung..no other Androids nor Apple!!
I had the technician attempt each of these in trouble shooting and STILL said this was a manufacture issue..
Samsung makes no bones about the fact that they offer no support for the AT&T branded phone..
A $700 phone..I will be contacting the Attorney General to file a complaint and ask for an investigation..
