Keyboard issues

My keyboard keeps popping up, even when I am not in message mode. And sometimes even on my lock screen. Any suggestions?

Hey there @Cards15!

I’m sorry to hear about your keyboard issues! Those pop ups would get annoying quick!

I would suggest clearing the cache of your keyboard, and data if necessary!

You can do this on most androids by going to Settings > Device > Applications > Application Manager, and finding your keyboard listed. Once you selected it should be able to clear the cache and data from there!

Feel free to ask any further questions, we’re always glad to help out!

I ended up exchanging my phone since it was under warranty. But the new one is doing the same thing. The keyboard is on almost every time my phone is sitting idle, and I go to use it the keyboard is on my lock screen. I tried what was suggested but it didn't work. Any other suggestions? By the way it is a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.

Hello @Cards15!

Thank you for your reply! That is so strange that is happening to both of the devices you have! I did some research on this issue. Do you have Clean Master installed on your phone?

If so, let’s try turning off iSwipe. This can be done by opening Clean Master and accessing tools. From here you should see iSwipe. Disable that, and then see if the problem still exists!

Keep us updated! Have a great day!

I have not installed Clean Master and I am not finding it in the pre- loaded apps so I cannot try the last suggestion. Any other ideas?

Hello @Cards15!

Thank you for your reply!

Next, I recommend checking out our AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve tool. After selecting your make and model, there will be an option for keypad or applications under Select a Device-Related Issue. This will take you through a majority of the steps we want to perform.

If this does not work, I recommend trying another keyboard! You can download these from the Google Play Store (such as Google Keyboard). Once it is downloaded, you will be able to change it through Settings > System > Language and input > Default keyboard > Set up input methods (these steps may differ depending on phone model).

Just let us know how that goes! Have a wonderful day!
