HTC One M7 SIM Unlock Code (rcvd from ATT) Question

I requested an unlock code for my HTC One (M7) earlier this week.  I did not receive any email from ATT (Inbox/Junk/etc.), so I chatted with a very helpful ATT customer service person today and he sent me the unlock instructions and "code" directly.  The unlock code field reads:

 

Thank you for contacting AT&T Customer Care about unlocking your AT&T Mobile device:
CASE:
IMEI: 
UNLOCK CODE: No Unlock Code Needed (bolding is mine)

 

Then the instructions go on to state to replace the ATT SIM with another carrier's SIM and "Enter the unlock code when prompted."  As no code was provided (is that right?), is this as simple as installing another carrier's SIM card and you're good to go?  Same for my wife's iPhone 5?  If there is no code with a time limit... does this instruction apply: "Please allow 24 hours upon receipt of this notification to complete the unlock process"

Thank you for reaching out to  the  Community Forums.  I would be more than happy to help you with this. A request for unlock is required for all phones.  The phone is locked until you request for it to be unlocked, but some do not require a code.  Most of the phones require an unlock code.
