Galaxy s3 android update to 4.3

So I am a little bothered that I havent seen this topic on the front page with how popular the S3 was/is. The AT&T support staff tells me to check with samsung. Is this something we should look forward to or will it be skipped? Since we no longer can upgrade after 18 months it would be nice to at least get the newest software on time.

I am still waiting for the upgrade notification to come to my S3. I've call AT&T this past Friday and was transferred unknowingly to Samsung who instructed me to go to check software status on my phone (which I have already done).  The the rep gave me this speech about  waiting for AT&T to send the upgrade to my phone and that it may be a few days because the update in on a rolling schedule.  Ok, so I waited til this past Saturday and spoke to tech support via live chat and verified my sim card # as well as my IMEI number, still no update.  Contacted AT&T later on Saturday and was told that the servers are very busy so it may be a while before I get the update...I'm seriously considering rooting my phone, but I am concerned about voiding out my warranty....this is totally rediculous!

As ATT pushed the 4.3 update out and as I and others are having issues with it.

Knox profile app is not included.

Lookout is installed and can only disable it.  I want either the full verson or let me take it off the phone.  ATT discount code?

My phone now randomly restarts.

Please fix the 4.3 update and re-push the update.

A lot of people have reported that performing a hard reset helps fix the issues. It will unfortunately wipe everything on the phone so make backups of amything important.

There are a few of those that you can disable to stop them from ever running. Unfortunately since the att version is locked we are unable to remove these apps at our own will.

I am still waiting for the update myself after 8 days. I called AT&T 3 times and used the chat support options 3 times. I got inaccurate information on all my attempts. Some of them refused to accept that android jellybean 4.3 release is out. Some of them redirected me to Samsung, and their support said that Samsung provides the software to AT&T and they in turn release to the phone OTA. They even refuse to open a ticket or escalate as according to them, they don't know what to do. This is sheer incompetence on AT&T's part.

I think I have exhausted all the options there are, please suggest, if anyone has a better idea.

I have updated my GS3 to 4.3 and I love it. I am not experiencing any major problems. The only thing is the battery drainage which is not out of the ordinary from 4.1.2. But the phone is a good different experience and its like I have a new phone. I love the new notification bar and the lock screen widgets

The only ptoblem was that the update took FOREVER! Everytime I tried to update the phone it would seem like it would start then it would just stopped which was ANNOYING! So I had to manipulate the time so I would have to wait 24 hours numerous of times. I contacted AT&T and chatted with different reps and they tried to help but did not really. But after so many tries, it worked and it took a lil over an hour to go through the process which I think is worth it.

I updated my wife's S3 a few days ago, and she's now having a problem. When she opens the Gallery and presses the share button while viewing a picture, Gallery FCs.

Also, is it just me or did ATT remove the option to hide icons in the app drawer? She's back to the bandaid fix of creating a folder to hide bloatware.

My wife's S3 is also stuck at 4.1.1. Does anyone have a solution for this? I read this on xda but it's kinda confusing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387423

I've tried updating to 4.3 twice now.  Both times (last was this morning) after a 1+ hour download the install failed at 24%.  I hate this phone and the software.   Wish I had never switched from Apple. Is anyone else having these issues? Can't update now for another 46 hours.  I really thought Sansung and Android would have been much better than this.

The problem isn't Samsung or Google, it's ATT. They have released it with bugs still present. I have an SGS2 running CM10.2 and it runs faster than my wife's SGS3.

What bugs me most is that KIES is way outdated.  It would have been a better alternative updating devices rather relying on AT&T's glitchy OTA servers.

I wonder if you guys just have too many neighbors with wifi, a crappy wifi router, or are too far from it to get a good signal, etc... I've updated two phones from 4.0.4->4.1.1->4.1.2->4.3 with no issues any time. Sure, it's not *fast* to download 600MB+ each time, but it never stops or fails on me. I just leave the phone on a table and come back when the download is finished. I did the updates more or less the day they came out each time too, in the middle of the day, when it would probably be the busiest on AT&T's servers.

10 days - Still waiting for the software to be pushed to my phone. Does anyone have any other ideas by which I can update the phone?

Samsung - We have given software to AT&T and they need to push

AT&T Call Helpdesk - We can push and we don't know who to forward the call to

AT&T Chat Support - We are technical dept and we don't handle that, not sure who to foward it to

Any help is much appreciated. Even a way to escalate this at AT&T works, since the helpdesk and chat support refuse to raise a ticket as they don't know who to assign it to.

Let me add my experience to your list.

AT&T Walk-ins: We are sales, we don't handle tech issues.

AT&T Issued ticket: We are working on it.

Calling Samsung: Call AT&T to push the update to your device. (I told them I just did just a moment ago). Please visit the nearest Samsung Experience.

Samsung Experience: Why are they bringing you here? We only handle sales, but we can try to help, though.  They will try KIES and if it fails, they will use Samsung Live Chat.

- Samsung Live Chat: Please be patient, updates are currently rolling-out, so wait for more days.

IF the Samsung Experience rep has "tech background", he/she will say that he/she can flash the device to the latest firmware, but they were instructed not to. (-_-)

Thank you!  I guess I was expecting to get an email whenever a response was posted, so I never checked.  Did an online chat with Samsung and they wanted me to do a hard reset - even though he'd never help anybody with my issue he was "positive" this would fix my issue (and create all kinds of work for me by having to re-download everything).  Glad I came back to check!

So I updated to 4.3, and I was wondering has anyone else had any issues with texting? Like when I get a text and reply back, my text goes on top of the other person's text. Or all the other person's text will bunch together and my reply goes on top of their previous messages.

I've had the 4.3 update on my device since the day it was released and it has been pretty stable. However I've been experiencing these issues so far.

- One to two second lag on lockscreen after wakeup.

- 2 to 5 second lag opening the gallery.

- Memory consumption seems kinda high now.

- There seems to be more redraws on the launcher now, could be a memory management issue or Samsung should've updated the launcher

- Battery drains more, however it has stablized, but it's still not like it was in 4.1.2.

According to a post in a different thread, someone contacted AT&T support and they said that there is a patch in the works.  AT&T left out some things in this update that I hope they bring in this patch such as:

- Gyroscope Calibrator. It was present in my device since the day I got it but left out of 4.3. It was a very useful tool to ensure touchscreen accuracy.

- Adapt display and professional photo display modes which should've been included in the update.

- I know Knox is present as a device administrator, but isn't it also a standalone app, with it's own app store.

- Mobile data toggle.

Also, if you're listening AT&T, I know this is a longshot but maybe suggest to Samsung's software engineers to add a couple additional S4 features and to update the launcher and widgets.

15 days and still waiting for update to pop on my phone. Tried every option in the book and reached out to both AT&T and Samsung. The only response they have is wait, but don't tell how long.

Everyone around me has received the update.

Any suggestion is much appreciated.

I have tried 4 times to update my Galaxy S4 from 4.2.2 to 4.3. I am able to download the update but sometimes it stops early in the download and once it has reached 100%. Everytime I have tried to update my phone it has done nothing after the download process including the time it reached 100%. I can't figure out why this is happening and since there is a restriction on checking for update every 24 hours I have to wait for the next day to make another attempt. My phone is completely stock and has no illegal mods to it such as being rooted. I have also tried using Samsung's Kies program and it says it does not support updating this current firmware. Really need some help on this.

I'm a sad owner of an AT&T Galaxy S3 i747 Phone. The phone was gifted to me in India by my uncle to who stays in the US. He paid all the extra money to get the phone out of contract and unlocked officially from AT&T.

The phone is working fine now in India, but from the fact that I just can't update.

I have spoken to your customer care and they say that since I don't have a phone number registered on the network I won't get the OTA Updates. They asked me to contact Samsung for it.

When contacted Samsung, they told me that updates would now only be OTA and hence they can't help me.

And now I'm stuck. Despite paying all the money, I'm strangled like this and can't update my phone. These updates contain important security patches which are vital for the security of my phone and the information therein. Hence I'm very concerned about this deadlock and expect AT&T to resolve it for me as I've paid the extra amount for having the phone unlocked officially.
