Galaxy 4S sound stops working without notice. Restarts solve it for a few minutes to several hours.

I too had this issue.  I bought a new battery on Amazon and haven't had the problem since!!!!

I am sorry to hear your device is having an audio issue. This sounds like it could be quite frustrating, and I would love to get this fixed!

I recommend putting the phone into safe mode, and testing it out. To do this, power the device completely off. Press and hold the Power Key, until the Samsung logo appears. OInce this happens, hold the Volume Down Key until the device fully restarts. If successful, it will say "Safe Mode" on the bottom of the screen.

If the device works fine in safe mode, a 3rd party application may be causing the problem. I would recommend deleting any apps downloaded prior to this issue occurring, or deleting all of your 3rd party applications, and adding them back one at a time.

Another option would be a factory reset. This will revert your device back to default, and should force it to behave properly. Please make a backup prior to the reset!
