I can't enter my IMEI, during a device unlock

Motorola E1 ROKR, operator CINGULAR. the phone requires - "enter subsidy password". I can't enter my IMEI as the site gives an error: "Looks like the IMEI number you entered doesn't match an at&T device. Try entering it again. Dial *#06# on your mobile phone to make sure you have the right IMEI."The phone is blocked by the operator. How do I get the code?

p.s. excuse me, make a topic in the wrong sub-forum. My phone is not an Android.

The phone is a 2005 2g only phone.  It is highly unlikely either Motorola or att can provide an unlock code as the IMEI has been long purged.  The phone was made before unlocking was even done regularly.  The phone has very limited 2G bands and since most carriers are shutting down 2G, it will have very limited usage around the world.

Hello @TTAkAT,

We'd be more than happy to take a closer look into why you're unable to submit a wireless unlock request for your wireless device. We'll be sending you a private message to request account information shortly.

I don't care if this phone will work on 2G networks. It's important that I can unlock it. It's history. I'll leave a private message with support.

I don't understand why you can't give me the code. CINGULAR is an att operator that was before the merger of the two companies. My phone's old. And it does not matter who and when used it. It doesn't make any sense. VERIZON refuses 2G networks at all. So why not bring a little joy to the person? Just the whole point of this policy? Please reply ATT.

Not into understanding the “why” are you.  In order for you to unlock it, ATT has to get the code from the manufacturer.  TBut they don’t save codes for old and non supported devices.  The original iPhone is no longer in Apple servers and can’t be unlocked.  The Amazon Fire phone was also dumped by the manufacturer and no unlock codes can be retrieved.  No 2G phones are supported and unlock codes are no longer available.  The time to unlock these devices was years ago while still current phones.

And be fore you write, “they have to . . . “.  No they do not.  The CTIA agreement is that they will unlock eligible phones if possible.

I need help unlocking my iPhone cause I’m just getting the run around when i talk to At&T and when I’ve put in for unlock my device it say it has to be fully paid off, well it’s been paid off in full for 3 months now cause that’s when i upgraded to my new iPhone and kept the iPhone 6. If it wasn’t fully paid off then At&T wouldn’t let me keep it when I upgraded. I don’t understand what the deal is????
