Data Service Is Blocked

Earlier today I received a notification on my phone, a Pixel, titled "Data service is blocked." That was all it said and tapping it took me nowhere. Since then I have gotten the notification multiple times and am no longer able to use data. I'm able to text and make calls with wi-fi, but that's it. So far I have tried turning my phone off and on, clearing cached data in case the problem was caused by an app, even the whole put it on airplane mode for a while, none of that worked. I haven't had much luck finding information through Google, and everything I did find claimed a hard reboot did not fix the problem, which is why I haven't tried it. The only other possible fix I've come across is getting a new sim card. No one else on the plan has gotten this message either, making me wonder if it's because the Pixel isn't an AT&T brand phone.

Hello @AJohnson46,

With unlocked phones, the APN settings sometimes need to be manually set to AT&T from the previous carrier. The good news is, it is relatively easy and we have a great tutorial on how to ensure they match correctly with our network.  The Android settings are towards the top of the page. Please make sure all the information in the online table is fixed in the phone to match. This will also help with your ability to send and receive pictures as well.

My next suggestion would be to check the device is properly setup for LTE/4G GSM service. Please visit Settings > More > Mobile networks > Preferred Network Type > and make sure it’s set to LTE (may appear as 4G instead) or to 3G (if LTE/4G is not available). Please restart the device afterwards.

If the problem remains, try resetting your network settings. You may be able to find this option either under Settings > CONNECTIONS > More connection settings > Reset network settings > RESET SETTINGS, or under Settings > Backup & reset > Network settings reset > Reset settings > Reset settings. You may need to re-add any saved Wi-Fi networks or Bluetooth connections since they will be deleted. Please don’t forget to restart your device afterwards as well.

Please let us know how this works out! If needed, we can further investigate what the issue may be. Have a great rest of your day!

Ive had this issue for the past 6 months. Ive updated the APN's, software updates, factory reset the phone, replaced the SIM card, nothing worked. I use an LG Aristo. However, it works when I am out of town. A 25 mile radius around my home town, I cant use it, but after that, it works fine.

@Stonejames72

That phone has limited LTE bands.  If your local towers use bands other than 2,4 and 5 you have no data service.
