Constant app crashes on brand new LG G PAD F 8.0

I just recently got an LG G Pad 8.0 F tablet, after several issues with the AT&T Trek. However, I'm still experiencing many of the same issues that I had with the Trek. Several of my apps randomly crash when nothing else is showing in use or going on in the background. I always close out completely of any running apps, but that doesn't seem to matter. I use this tablet almost exclusively on my home Wi-Fi. My iPhone doesn't seem to have the issues with the apps, so I don't think it's the apps themselves.

Hi @TabNPhoneHome

Thank you for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums! We apologize that you are having issues with the applications on the device! We want to make sure we get you up and running rather quickly so we can have you enjoying that tablet and the applications!

Are some of the applications you are having the issues with ones that were on the AT&T Trek device? Have you tested the device in Safe Mode?

  1. To place the device in Safe Mode and test to see if an application is causing the issue on the device.
  2. Safe mode allows you to turn on the device with third-party apps disabled. Then you can easily remove all apps that may be causing a conflict or software problem.
  3. To turn on safe mode and use it to fix app problems, follow these steps:
  4. Turn on safe mode
  5. Turn the device off.
  6. Press and hold the Power key.
  7. When 'LG' appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  8. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  9. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  10. Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  11. Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.
  12. Since both the LG G Pad F 8.0 and the iPhone are going to both be on separate platforms, it is certainly possible to not have the same issues with the applications on both device. We want to make sure that we have the applications updated on the tablet.

We recommend going through the following troubleshooting on the tablet to see if we can’t get that working once again!

  1. To force stop an app, from the home screen tap Settings > Scroll to and tap Apps > Scroll to, then tap the Desired app.
  2. To force stop an app, tap Force stop.
  3. To clear cache data, tap Storage > Tap Clear cache.
  4. To uninstall an app, from the Play Store, tap the Menu icon > Tap My apps & games > Scroll to, then tap the desired app > Tap UNINSTALL > Tap OK.
  5. To reinstall the app, tap INSTALL.
  6. To update an app, from My apps, scroll to, then tap the Desired app marked with "UPDATE" > Tap UPDATE.

You can walk through the AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve article to get a bit more troubleshooting tips. Once on the website, select Applications on the bottom right.

You can always find troubleshooting tutorials and your phone's user manual through AT&T Device Support online through AT&T. Once on the website, you can select your specific device.

You are also able to troubleshoot the device update at any AT&T Device Support Center if one is available in your area. To locate a Device Support Center, click on Troubleshooting at Device Support Center.

Let us know if this resolves the applications issue for you! Thank you for being a part of the AT&T Family!

Except an iPhone app can't be compared against an Android one. Two different APIs and dev tools. Two different OSs.

First of all, the LG G Pad 8 and AT&T Trek are entry-level tablets with low-end processors. Snapdragon 400/410 with only 1GB of RAM. What apps are crashing?

I'm experiencing the same problems. When I went into the store I had told them I would be playing games on this and also using it for transactions. It not only runs slow but it closes the apps. I've never had an issue with any tablets before but normally I stay with Apple products, but I needed an Android device. Its been aggravating so far. I've been into the store and they had to reset it. Worked for a bit now it's doing the same thing. I don't mind doing troubleshooting especially if it works... But on a brand new pad of less than a week is upsetting. And I'm Supposed to have this for 2 years? Plz let me know if there is something I can install or do to eliminate these issues or if I should just pay more to get something that will run faster and not crash on me

KJ7777, I have the exact problem with mine. Either my tablet just randomly restarts itself, or it crashes the app and goes to the desktop. The battery area overheats entirely too easily.

I'm having same issues, except for overheating. It's irritating especially when it can't be returned to at&t as it's a couple of months old.

I have the same issue. I have done everything from clearing the cache to doing a factory reset and none of them helped. I think LG should recall the tablets of at least find a patch to correct the problem.

I, too, have an LG tablet from an AT&T promotion. It continuely blacks out when I'm in a game, typing an email, or commenting on FaceBook. Whatever app I'm using at the time will hang and and I have to keep clearing ALL. I have updated it every time there is a new update and I have reset the device 3 or 4 times hoping it will correct the issue. I have also had issue with the WIFI and 4G not connecting. It is very frustrating. I want to go back to a Samsung tablet. I'm heading to the AT&T store where I got it 5 months ago and see what they will do to correct the problem. I've been in there twice already and they make me feel the issue is me because it works fine for them at the time they test it.  I'm glad to know now I'm not the only one with this problem.

My local AT&T store got worse and worse every time I went back....I even ended up reporting some of the associates to their manager because they were so rude and unhelpful. I hope you have better luck with your store!

There was nothing anyone would do to take it back and give me an iPad (I was offering to pay the monthly fee as well)... So with a little brainstorming between my account holder, my favorite associate there, (there's 2 that I give 100% faith in), and myself, we came up with taking the LG off the data plan, making it wifi only, upgrading a device so I could get the iPad (not a single crash since I've gotten it!!) and a few other finagles for all our troubles. My 17-month old daughter now has a tablet she can mess with and I can use my apps without worry!
