Cannot Text A Specific Contact Unless They've Texted Me First

So, here's the deal. I have a contact, also an AT&T customer, who I can only text if it's immediately after one from her has come in. Every other time I get an error. If she texts me, and I wait to reply (like if I'm at work) my messages won't go through. However, if I immediately respond, we can have entire text conversations.

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus and she's on a S7.

Hello @Estanima,

It can be confusing when you are not able to message a contact if you miss their message right away. I will be more than happy to help!

What it sounds like is the messaging app maybe too clogged up with cache data.  Please go into the phone’s Settings > Apps > All > Messaging > Clear Cache > Reboot Phone and then try to send the contact a message.

I also recommend visiting our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool! This fantastic resource is like connecting directly to a tech support agent! After choosing your device’s make and model, please go to Network/Service Issues > Messaging.

Please let me know if these steps help! Have a fantastical day!

Nope. Still not working. And I've confirmed with her in person that she's not blocking me between messages.

Hello again @Estanima,

Thank you for the fast response!

I am sorry to hear the previous steps did not work. Please send me a private message to @ATTCares.  Within the message, please include your full name and best contact number.  Any additional information would be welcomed.

Have a great rest of the day!

Was this ever solved? I have the same problem. It happens with only one person.
