Can I use a postpaid SIM in a prepaid phone?

I have an active AT&T unlimited plan broke my phone sim is in daughters phone.. I found a phone AT&T compatible in my budget BUT it is a Go Phone Pre-paid phone from AT&T. Q: Can I just put my sim in it and use it?? or do I need to have  the go phone sim to operate the phone successfully????  Please tell me that I can...

Thank you,
