Access to internal storage not available and can not set default app install to external sd card

After upgrading my ZTE Zmax2 to 6.0.1 I can not change my default app install location and I can no longer see the internal storage. Used to be if I connected usb to pc I could see internal storage and sd card storage both. Also had option to set default install location for apps. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hello @Sl1ck3r,

I completely understand needing to be able to manage your storage settings. I would be more than happy to help get this figured out.

We have a great Device Support page which can show how to access your storage settings from your phone. It will show both the internal and SD storage, what is already used and what storage is left available. Please first select your make and model, then click Tutorials > System & storage > Available Memory.

In order to set an application as the default you will want to go to your Settings, and then find your Applications. Here you can set where the applications will be saved as default. Some applications can only be stored in the phones internal memory system in order to operate correctly.

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach back out to us. Have an amazing rest of your day!

Have looked and no help unfortunately. Before update I could go to apps or storage (can't recall now) and set default install location but now after update if I go to storage I see it is set to save to phone (grayed out) but can not find a way to change.

When connected via USB you MUST click ALLOW on Android 6 on the screen of the device before it will be visible to Windows/OSX, etc. I would also check developer options and ensure that MTP is selected USB type.

Installing apps to SD card is never recommended. The read/write rate of even a Class 10 card is slower than the internal memory. The old method did not install the entire application on your SD card either. It was the AppData. Not the APK. I have the same device and it appears that was removed. For good reason too. Internal storage is where apps should be on all devices.
