Extending life of prepaid account via balance

Extending life of prepaid account via balance

Hi all,

I'm currently an international student, and would be going home for 3 months right about now. However, I'd like to keep using my old phone number after I come back. From what I have read, the account goes into cancellation phase for 60 days after you stop paying, but adding balances can add amounts of time to the account life. However, am I correct in assuming that if I let the account go into cancellation for, say, 40 days, then top up $10 dollars which has a 30 day expiration time, that I will be able to keep the account alive for 70 days total? Or does topping up during cancellation not extend the life of an account.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Extending life of prepaid account via balance

Hello @ja5087,

We can definitely assist you with suspending your PREPAID service until you're ready to reactivate it again. You can follow these steps to Suspend your AT&T PREPAID service. The current airtime expiration date for the balance on your PREPAID account will not be changed or postponed. Any unused balances will still expire on that date, which may result in a lost balance depending on the balance amount. Balance amounts of $10-$24.99 will expire after 30 days, and balance amounts of $25-$99.99 will expire after 90 days. If you don't make a payment (refill) within 60 days of the account balance expiration date, your account will be canceled and you’ll lose your phone number. If the balance does expire, you have a 60-day period to Re-establish your PREPAID service and keep the same number. Let us know if this helps.
