does anyone use family map

What do you think when I see two blue circles and 2 locations on the same time and phone number? Do anyone know what it means.  You can't have two phones with the same number can you?

Hello @Marypopkins Thank you for posting!

Sounds like you're seeing an approximate location. If the phone is indoors and can't be located by the GPS satellites, Family Map will show you an approximate location based on the closest cellular towers. If the phone is seen by at least three towers, the system will triangulate its location and typically show it within a one mile circle, but in the case you described, it sounds like there were only two towers seeing that phone so it showed you the towers it was connected to as it was the best information they had at that time.

Please let me know if you have nay other questions.

Thank you,

Dmitriy

Thank you for answering. I do have another question. Sometimes when I
locate someone, it shows 2 location symbols at different locations. Also,
show 2 blue circle areas( the shaded area due to no towers I guess, but the
shaded blue circles connect one is usually larger and a smaller one inside
dark blue. Almost like two phones are used? Can this be so? Someone with 2
phones but same phone number? Really just curious, when I can?t understand
something I just need to know. If the family is working or if its not, I
need to cancel. I saw on the website you can block yourself from being
located. Just verify because calling ATT they won?t say anything even though
all the phones ware in my name and I pay the bill.

Thank you so much for your response, I appreciate it and have a great day.

Hello again, great questions. No, two phones can not be used with the same phone number at the same time. I think what's happening there is that either the system can't locate the phone at that time and shows you the last two known locations, or it's only seeing what towers the phone is connected to and is giving you an approximate location (possibly two of them, based on the lack of the more specific location data).

Thanks,

Dmitriy
