How do I block a number from leaving a voicemail?
My son has blocked calls from a person who is bothering him, but the calls just go to his AT&T voice-mail. She left him 38 messages in one day. Is there any way to block her specific number? He has a Samsung Note 3. We are looking for a solution that will work even when his phone is off. TIA

@Victor.S 38 calls is boring on cRaZy...
A Personal Protection Order (PPO), is all that's going to stop that.
In Michigan you need to go to the county courthouse, but I'm sure that varies by state.

Thanks Gary, but a protection order is not necessary, the caller is not a threat. I'm just looking for a technical solution.

Hello @Victor.S,
Wow! 38 messages in one day is definitely concerning. It is never great to receive a message or call from an unwanted number, so I understand where you are coming from. I am glad you brought this to our attention.
The great thing about most devices is the ability to block a wireless number. We have a great article with options to block calls and texts on blocking unwanted wireless numbers. Our Device Support tool also has great step by step instructions on how to block a wireless number right from the device. By selecting the make and model of your device, you will be directed to a page with personalized support on blocking a number.
If the above does not help, we are always more than happy to change your son's wireless number.
Please let us know if this works for you! I wish you a wonderful rest of your day!

Anyone can select "Block Caller". Why is there no additional option such as "Block VM"? Surely someone is chasing the Holy Grail of an app we're all seeking.
Just a simple app and this is ALL it does.
I've read endlessly about other apps that do all sorts of things, but I'm not interested in that. I'm only interested in this one additional "Block VM" option. NOT ALL Voice Mail - I want to be selective ... e.g. a specific number.

It is disappointing that the customer has asked specifically how to block calls going to VM and the AT T rep directs the customer to a page that only describes how to clock calls and texts. Knowingly the rep, chooses not to give a truthful answer and instead {edited for word filter evasion} The answer I presume is the following: You can not block people from leaving you voicemails.
Search for a company in the future that has this option. Or a company that has instructed its reps to acknowledge limitations.

AT&T provides your voicemail, and ways to block numbers from calling your phone. That's all it's required to do, and that's like building a gate to keep people from knocking on your front door. To block someone from accessing your voicemail would be like saying the people who built your house should have a way to keep people from knocking on your front gate, too. There are already plenty of apps on the Play Store and App Store that block people from leaving voicemail. Pick one.

No, it's not. It's perfectly sensible to allow people to blacklist numbers on voicemail. It would also be trivial to implement. AT&T just has

software developers.

If you'd done some research before responding to this six-month old post to flame, you would know that AT&T has already released the AT&T Call Protect app which allows you to block calls from going to voicemail. Thanks to their software developers.
