ATT refuses to unlock my iphone so I can use it to study abroad!!!
In Sept 2016, I was interested in their "trade in an iphone 6 for a free iphone 7" promotion, and called in to Customer Care to ask if I would be able to unlock my new iphone 7 for study abroad during January - May. I was assured that I would be able to if I got a new iphone 7 through their promotion, and was told to call back after I received my iphone 7 before my trip, and they would unlock it so I could use it in Spain. NOW when I call up, they are refusing to do it and claim that my promotion puts me on a payment plan so I have to pay my iphone 7 off first, even though I already traded in my iphone 6 for it!!!! I would NOT have traded in my iphone 6 if I knew I woudl not be able to unlock the iphone 7. So ATT, what am I supposed to do now?? I leave in a week!!!!!!!

Whoever told you that was wrong. If you would have checked the unlock requirements of AT&T phones, you would have seen that all obligations on the phone have to be paid in full before your phone could be unlocked.
