AT&T Secure Family and Quostodio

I used to use Smart Limits to monitor my daughter's iPhone. I tried to install the  Secure Family Companion app but it looks like Quostodio is already using the device manager. Looks like both apps cannot be used on an iPhone.  If not, I'm canceling while I'm in the 30-day free trial period.

Hello @LisaC71

Thank you for the post.

AT&T Smart Limits is changing to AT&T Secure Family. AT&T Smart Limits will be retired the end of November, 2018. There may be a conflict until December 1, 2018.

We hope this helps.

Hi @LisaC71

Thanks for clarifying.

Only 1 app with a Mobile Device Manager (MDM) can run on your daughters iPhone at a time. It appears Quostodio is already using a MDM on your daughters iPhone.

We hope this clears things up.

That doesn't answer the question of whether Secure Family can be used if
Quostodio is already installed on the iPhone.

So is the ATT secure Family going to be just like ATT Smart limits? If not I will probably not use the ATT Secure Family then.... ATT Smart limits you can block exact individual phone numbers. etc.  I do not see this option in ATT secure family? The option to ONLY allow family members to be contacts whether by texting or phone calls only makes sense. If the new ATT secure family does not have this option then why not? Why wouldnt ATT take ALL the options that worked great and integrate them into ATT Secure family? Any input would be great. Thanks!

What is happening on December 1st that might resolve the conflict between Smart Limits and Secure family?  I switched to Secure Family and was able to continue locating my child's phone.  Now as of 11/28/2018, it is unable to locate his phone.  I do not have access to his to phone to download the companion app, so I am out of luck now?  I now without the pairing it won't be the most accurate location but now I have no ability to locate.  Do you know if this is the conflict that you are referring to that might be resolved by December 1st?

Why can’t we just have the choice to keep Smart Limits???  Whoever made the new app must not have children because it takes them 2 minutes to figure out how to unpair their device!!!  New app is USELESS!!! Also, can’t block numbers on just their phone—have to block on mine too. BRING BACK SMART LIMITS!!!!!

@Emmcg12 I absolutely AGREE! Whoever developed Secure Family has never endured those 'oh-so-fun' tug-o-wars w/a child JUST to get them to install the app on their phone in the FIRST place! Much less the countless repeated conversations to try to make sure that they don't delete it & don't mess w/the settings! Goodness!

I kind of think that the two app names & their functions should speak volumes to AT&T's app developers re:the changes they might need to make.

Smart Limits: It actually was simply THAT! It was raw, but did the job! It limited wifi, limited hours when they were on, limited capabilities during school & bedtime & limited who can contact our children. And holy cow...it actually WAS a 'Parental Control'!!! No app needed to be downloaded on child's phone, meaning no chance for the app to be tampered w/by our little tech geniuses! And WHO controlled the functions? The people who pay the BILLS! The PARENTS! Thus...TRUE 'Parental Controls'!!

Secure Family: Now I'm sorry...but uh...exactly WHAT is 'secure'?!? Well...not much! The child has free reign to choose whether or not they want the app downloaded on their phone, they can choose whether or not the app STAYS on their phone, they can choose what functions are monitoring their phone AND they can choose whether or not to turn those functions on or off! Well GEE! That sure sounds like the 'Secure Family' app puts the PARENTS in that term 'Parental Control', huh?!? Or wait...are the PARENTS in charge & in control of keeping our children safe! Or does the 'Secure Family' app make our CHILDREN the authority figures in this supposed 'Secure Family'?!? Does the app put the 'keys to the kingdom' in the hands of our CHILDREN? Oh ya, cuz THAT makes logical sense! Put the MINI-humans...who don't have fully developed pre-frontal CORTEXES yet in control! Put the CHILDREN who make their decisions based on what THEY...WANT...at the MOMENT... rather than what they need or should have...completely in charge of keeping their tech devices 'SAFE', right?!? HECK! While we're AT it...how about we give the wee ones the ability to manage all our FINANCES TOO, right?!? Cuz, oh I'm SURE they'll make all the right choices to give us & them the best possible results & outcomes, right?!? And if you believe that, I have a pretty pink elephant riding a tricycle for sale...a mere $25 million! End of year discount!

Lol! 😎🙄😂

Ok...I'm done w/my rant.😤 Needless to say...YES!!! BRING BACK SMART LIMITS!!! Because this new 'Secure Family' app?!? Should probably think about losing the word 'SECURE' in its app title as well. Just sayin'! Lol. 😒

Yes my kids have already disabled "Secure family" all... it does not work. I cannot control the internet button on the app through my phone! What a joke! They have till the end of december to remedy this or I am done. THE ONLY REASON I STAYED WITH ATT FOR YEARS IS BECAUSE OF SMART LIMITS! HEAR THAT ATT?

Try Netsanity...we've had great luck w/ them on our kids 4 phones. Hated Smart Limits...and the new parental controls that ATT is offering is worse!
