Cannot call certain 800 numbers using Uverse

After converting to Uverse I cannot call AT&T 1-800 numbers and AT&T mobile numbers. Just recently tried to fax a 1-866 number and it does not work so my fax machine is now not working as well. This has been going on for two weeks without any resolution. VOIP may be the fad but if the network technicians are not IP proficient this is what happens.

This is strange.  Have you tried calling AT&T Technical Support at 800-288-2020 and asking them why calling the 800/866 numbers did not work?  Did you get a message when you dialed these numbers?

The ironic thing is that 1-800-288-2020 is one of the numbers that does not work. You have no return ring or audio.

Hm.  Okay, in that case please click this AT&T logoU-verse Customer Service link to send a Private Message (PM) to the AT&T customer service team to help you resolve your issue. You can expect a reply via return PM (the blue envelope envelopewill appear in the upper right hand corner of this site, next to your name and avatar) in a business day or three.

This is a group of U-verse service specialists who are knowledgeable about U-verse and will stay with your problem until the end (instead of forgetting about it when the phone hits the cradle). Speed things up by including your Billing Account Number, and the best time and way to reach you.

The supervisor called today to inform me that they are working on the
problem and hope to have it resolved soon. It is a configuration issue with
IP routing for the phone.

I'm having the same issue with Uverse Voice, except I can't call any toll free numbers. I've worked with Tech support and still no resolution.

So far I have:

-Replaced the modem

-Replaced the Phone + RJ11

-Reset the Modem

I mentioned this post to them and they are still saying the issue is on my end.. ???

The funny thing is I can call toll free numbers from the ATT webpage and have it ring to my phone successfully. It has been a few months without any resolution. Can't wait for my contract to end to cancel this crap...

The reason I never got Uvoice and got Basic Talk instead for unlimited US/Canada calling for $12.38/mo including taxes/fees.  All toll free #s ,local #s and long distance #s work. Smiley Very Happy
